Children’s Christmas Pageant
This year’s Children’s Christmas Pageant will be held during 10 a.m. worship on December 20. It introduces a whole new meaning behind the popular Christmas song “The Twelve Days of Christmas”. Many people have viewed the song as one of lyrical nonsense. Well, it isn’t! Its hidden meaning is actually Christian instruction of the catechism with each “gift” relating to some aspect of the Christian faith.
The pageant explains that long ago Christians were prohibited from practicing religion. So, to keep the tradition alive, they taught their children key aspects of Christianity using the symbolism of gifts that “my true love” (God) gave to “me” (all believers). The song became a mnemonic device to help Christians all over the world remember important themes and symbols of the Christian faith.
