This year’s Children’s Christmas Pageant will be held during 10 a.m. worship on December 20. It introduces a whole new meaning behind the popular Christmas song “The Twelve Days of Christmas”. Many people have viewed the song as one of lyrical nonsense. Well, it isn’t! Its hidden meaning is actually Christian instruction of the catechism with each “gift” relating to some aspect of the Christian faith.

The pageant explains that long ago Christians were prohibited from practicing religion. So, to keep the tradition alive, they taught their children key aspects of Christianity using the symbolism of gifts that “my true love” (God) gave to “me” (all believers). The song became a mnemonic device to help Christians all over the world remember important themes and symbols of the Christian faith.

Healing Service every month on the last Sunday at 4:30 p.m.

What to expect

We welcome you to this special worship time; a service of prayer for healing and wholeness. This service is for healing of every kind, whether physical, spiritual, or emotional. We begin with a time of worship in song, then the preaching of the word, and concluding with an invitation to come forward for special prayer with the laying on of hands and anointing of oil. As Christians, we believe God is the source of wholeness in our lives. Therefore, it is appropriate for us to conduct prayers for wholeness and healing. Some of us need healing from broken relationships; some of us need healing from psychological distress; some of us need the gift of physical healing.

Why we do it

A service of prayer for healing and wholeness is not a new activity for the church, but has always been a part of the life of the church. Healing services are an ancient and accepted practice. The disciples, following Jesus’ example, anointed the sick and prayed for healing (Mark 6:7, 12-13). Scripture instructs us to pray for healing. The book of James, for one, states that “If anyone is sick, call the elders and pray for that person and anoint that person with oil in the name of the Lord,” (James 5:14).
